Packers Play Most Sultry Home Diversion in Lambeau Field history

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Frozen Tundra was more similar to a sauna on Sunday evening.

With a kickoff temperature of 89, the Green Bay Packers authoritatively played the most sweltering home diversion in Lambeau Field history.

Before Sunday, it was never hotter than 85 degrees for a Packers home amusement since they started recording temperatures in 1959. Furthermore, that diversion wasn't even in Green Bay. The 85-degree diversion came at Milwaukee's County Stadium, where the Packers used to play two home amusements a season through the 1994 season. It was against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 10, 1978.

The hottest past amusement at Lambeau Field was a 84-degree challenge against the Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 6, 1963. There had been just seven home recreations at 80 degrees or more since 1959.

Sunday's diversion was 102 degrees hotter than the coldest amusement at any point played at Lambeau: the less 13-degree Ice Bowl against the Cowboys on Dec. 31, 1967.

The hottest amusements in Packers history all have gone ahead the street. Twice - at San Diego in 1978 and at Arizona in 2003 - they played in 102-degree climate. A year ago's season opener at Jacksonville tied for the third-hottest amusement in Packers history at 90 degrees.
