Come in Heinz Field, James Conner in 98 yards in Steelers debut

Come in Heinz Field, James Conner in  98 yards

The Pittsburgh Steelers won 3-14 in the pre-season of their last four, but was knocked off the New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons back-to-back weeks. It's not really interesting after the rookie seemed eager in the first half of Sunday 17-13 home victory over the Falcons. But at least the former Pitt star James Conner's 98 page debut and reserve some of the game build receiver keep pace.

Depth charts: QB Josh Dobbs adjusted accuracy short and over-the-middle passes, completing 9 out of 14 first attempt. He could not stretch the field, the strength of his preseason opener against the Giants. Dobbs usually looks more comfortable when you're in a bag and go vertically. The Steelers tried a few deep balls early in the second half, but could not connect. Overall, Dobbs (10-of-19, 70 page a intercept) minimizes errors. His last game was the intercept of fluky, he flicked the ball towards the edge, while always drawn for a sack.

If it's the beginning of VS beginner, the Steelers saw... not spectacular. It's hard to measure with the Steelers sat down so many major players, but the defenses let the Falcons backup operates a wide strip of open field, while catching passes of three different quarterbacks. Pittsburgh only saw one step late against the pass for most of the first half. Finally back from four must help these questions. Offensive line, sit down Ramon Foster and Maurkice plunge, do not play with the usual edge in the running game.

One of the reasons for the concern: not the Steelers ' thwarted plans to cover quite like List of fringe guys Nick Williams and Reggie Davis combine for 112 received yards in the first half. Veterans corner Ross Cockrell got beat in Davis go route for 44 yards. Passport coverage must be at least a little better this season, and a pre-season game will not affect these plans. But the week is not exactly the big statement that 2017 would be much different. The second unit fared better, although conflicting competition.

This person might start: outside Linebacker Anthony Chickillo would like to be known for more than August camp flashes. Now he's a backup. It will probably not be with a trio of Bud Dupree-James Harrison-T. J. Watts change. But Chickillo's two sacks Sunday reminded everyone that he was constantly improving. A

Rookie watch: After limited but promising work camp, the Steelers are very excited to see Conner in action games. He put together a fixed excursion to the Volanti including two-thirds down on the ticket fell. Conner crashed for 13 yards on his first five bears (11 of which came on a third-and-long), but began with his power over the middle or towards the edge, finishing with 98 yards to 20 bears. Conner may be too eager to bounce outside and must show the improvement in reliability as a pass-catcher, but overall he has acquitted himself well with a larger workload than expected. He seemed to gain strength over the development of the game, which is a good sign.

The introduction of Tranquility: Martavis Bryant pumped over the acts of the first game in 19 months. He will have great moments this season, but you will have to wait. Bryant ended up with 20 yards on two catches, along with a button from the Borders playing on his head. Bryant and Dobbs are connected on a 23-yarder at the edge, but it only sparks. Bryant count on the pitch and don't have Big Ben, so don't worry here.

Not to sleep on Trey: Trey Williams, who showed good open field passing training camp, broke through the seams both for a touchdown kick back the ball 64-side. Williams has no song on the job ran back, but probably just things interesting.
